Water Tank Capacity
Choosing the right tank starts with capacity. Too small and your system can’t meet demand. Too large and you’re carrying unnecessary cost and footprint. Franklin Hodge supplies water tanks across a wide capacity range, with cylindrical and rectangular options to suit projects of all sizes.
What Capacities of Tanks Can Franklin Hodge Offer?
Franklin Hodge offers a wide range of tank capacities, from 10m³ (2,200 imperial gallons) to 5,000m³ (1.1 million imperial gallons).
That range covers everything from compact residential fire protection installations through to large-scale industrial and municipal water storage projects. Both cylindrical and rectangular tank formats are available across this capacity range, giving you flexibility on footprint as well as volume.
Cylindrical and Rectangular Tank Options
Franklin Hodge manufactures two main tank formats, each suited to different site conditions and capacity requirements.
Cylindrical tanks include the Liquistore® and Firestore® ranges, available in high-grade galvanised steel or marine-grade aluminium. These are well suited to open sites where a larger diameter tank can be accommodated.
Rectangular tanks include the Liquitainer® and Firetainer® ranges, which are sectional and modular by design. The Firetainer® can be built up to 5.35m high, making it a practical option where floor space is limited but vertical space is available. The Tritainer® is another rectangular option, built from triangular-shaped galvanised steel panels assembled on-site into modules of 1.0m², with a maximum height of 2.575m.
For residential and multi-occupancy buildings, a scaled-down version of the LPCB-approved Firetainer® is available, designed in accordance with BS 9251:2001 for domestic and residential sprinkler systems.
Matching Capacity to Application
The capacity you need depends on your application. Here’s a general guide to how our range is used across different sectors:
- Fire protection systems, including sprinkler and hydrant tanks, where minimum storage volumes are determined by system design and regulatory requirements
- Potable and drinking water storage, sized to meet daily consumption and reserve requirements for commercial, industrial, and municipal sites
- Process water storage, where capacity is driven by production demand and operational flow rates
- Waste and effluent storage, sized to accommodate collection volumes between emptying or treatment cycles
- Temporary and emergency storage, where the Liquidrum® provides a lightweight, quickly assembled option for short-term or remote requirements
