Stainless Steel Water Storage Tanks
Stainless steel water storage tanks are often specified for applications where extreme corrosion resistance, ultra-clean water storage, or specialist food-grade requirements are the priority. It’s a well-established material, but it sits in a different corner of the water storage market to the sectional tanks Franklin Hodge manufactures. If you’ve landed here looking for a stainless steel tank, we’ll give you a straight answer on what we can offer, and where to go from here.
Can Franklin Hodge Offer Stainless Steel Tanks?
No, Franklin Hodge currently does not manufacture stainless steel tanks. Our core range is built in hot-dip galvanised steel and shipbuilding-grade aluminium, both of which are proven, cost-effective materials for industrial, commercial, agricultural, and municipal water storage projects.
For most water storage applications where stainless steel is initially considered, one of our existing tank specifications will meet the same performance requirements at a significantly lower whole-life cost. It’s worth a conversation before you commit to a specialist stainless steel supplier.
What Franklin Hodge Does Offer
Our sectional water storage tanks cover four cylindrical and rectangular ranges, each engineered for a specific type of application:
- Liquistore® and Liquitainer® for general liquid, potable, and process water storage
- Firestore® and Firetainer® for LPCB-approved fire protection systems
- Glass Coated Liquistore® for aggressive waste, effluent, and chemically corrosive liquids
- Aluminium variants of the Liquistore® and Firestore® for marine, coastal, and tropical sites
All tanks are available from 10m³ up to 5,000m³ and are built on-site from sectional panels, which makes installation practical in locations that wouldn’t suit a delivered pre-built stainless steel vessel.
Which Material Is Right for Your Project?
The right material depends on what you actually need the tank to do:
- Drinking water storage: Our WRAS-approved Liquistore® is lined with PVC and meets UK regulations for stored potable water. See our drinking water tanks range for specifications.
- Corrosive or aggressive liquids: Our Glass Coated Liquistore® is purpose-built for waste and effluent storage, offering high resistance to chemical attack in demanding environments.
- Coastal or marine sites: Our aluminium tanks, manufactured from a shipbuilding grade of aluminium, deliver long-term corrosion resistance in salt-exposed environments.
- General industrial or commercial storage: Hot-dip galvanised steel with a 300gms per side zinc coating is the practical, long-service default for the majority of inland UK projects.
If none of these fit your requirement, we’ll tell you honestly and point you in the right direction.
