Rectangular Water Storage Tanks
When floor space is limited but storage capacity cannot be compromised, a rectangular tank is often the more practical choice. Sectional and site-assembled, Franklin Hodge rectangular water storage tanks are built to fit where cylindrical designs simply won’t, without any reduction in build quality or performance.
Can Franklin Hodge Offer Rectangular Tanks?
Yes, Franklin Hodge offers rectangular tanks, featuring our Liquitainer® and Firetainer® brands.
Both are manufactured from high-grade galvanised steel and assembled on-site from sectional panels, making them well suited to confined plant rooms, basements, and locations with restricted access. Because the tanks are built in position rather than delivered as a single vessel, there are very few sites where installation isn’t practical.
The Liquitainer® is designed for general liquid storage applications, while the Firetainer® is our LPCB-approved rectangular tank built specifically for fire sprinklers and firefighting water storage systems. Each is available across a wide capacity range and can be configured to suit your site layout and volume requirements.
The Firetainer®: Rectangular Fire Protection Storage
The Firetainer® is one of Franklin Hodge’s most established products. It holds LPCB approval and is used on commercial, industrial, and residential projects where fire protection water storage needs to meet recognised certification standards.
A scaled-down version is also available for residential and multi-occupancy buildings, designed in accordance with BS 9251:2001 for domestic and residential sprinkler systems. For sites where floor space is at a premium, the Firetainer® can be built up to 5.35 metres high, making vertical space a usable asset where lateral space is not available.
The Liquitainer®: Rectangular Liquid Storage
The Liquitainer® provides a rectangular format for general liquid storage requirements, including potable water and process water applications. Like the Firetainer®, it is constructed from sectional galvanised steel panels and assembled on-site, with a tailor-made internal liner suited to the stored liquid.
Its modular design means capacity can be configured to match your site’s specific volume requirements, from smaller installations through to large-scale industrial storage.
Where Rectangular Tanks Are Typically Used
Rectangular tanks suit a range of applications and environments, including:
- Plant rooms and basement installations where a circular footprint won’t fit
- Buildings requiring fire protection storage with limited available floor area
- Industrial and commercial sites needing flexible capacity configurations
- Residential and multi-occupancy developments subject to sprinkler system requirements
