Pellet Storage Silos
Pellets only stay useful if they stay dry, clean and free flowing, from the moment they are loaded to the moment they are drawn off. The store has to protect quality as well as hold volume. Franklin Hodge builds galvanised Brice-Baker pellet storage silos for farms, feed mills and industrial sites across the UK and internationally, matched to what you store and how fast you turn it over.
Why Pellets Need the Right Silo
Pellets are compact and free flowing, but they are also easily damaged. Moisture makes them swell and crumble into dust, which clogs handling gear and wastes product. A well-designed silo controls moisture, keeps fines down, and lets pellets discharge cleanly when you need them. Get the store wrong and you pay for it twice, in spoiled product and in the downtime it causes. For a feed mill or a livestock operation, that reliability is the difference between a smooth day and a stoppage.
Brice-Baker Pellet Storage Silos
Our Brice-Baker silos are built from galvanised steel with shallow corrugation, so the internal walls stay smooth, and pellets flow out without hanging up. Sealed, site-assembled construction and full galvanising protect the contents from water ingress. Every silo is manufactured to BS EN 1090-1, the standard for structural steelwork, and Franklin Hodge is the only manufacturer of Brice-Baker silos, so the same team that designs and builds your silo also supports it long after installation.
Feed Pellet Silos for Mills and Farms
For feed pellets, storage usually means regular loading and draw-off rather than holding stock for months. Our hopper-bottom silos use custom discharge angles for fast, complete gravity emptying, which suits free-flowing feed pellets and quick turnaround. They are a natural fit for feed mills and livestock or poultry operations handling pelletised feed day to day. If you store biomass fuel instead, our wood pellet storage silos cover that specific use.
Flat-Bottom and Hopper-Bottom Silo Options
The right configuration depends on the volume and how you use the store. Our flat-bottom silos give high-capacity, long-term storage with working volumes up to 11,888m³ and diameters from 3 to 25 metres, ideal for large pellet stocks. Hopper-bottom silos, from 3 to 12 metres in diameter, suit frequent turnaround and complete discharge. We build each one to order and match it to your site and throughput, so you get the capacity and flow you need.
Handling, Inspection and Long-Term Support
Pellet stores rarely work alone. We can add mechanised loading and unloading, conveyors and augers to move pellets efficiently, plus custom ladders and gantries for safe access, all part of our grain handling equipment. We size the handling around your throughput, so pellets move in and out at the rate your operation demands. Once installed, drone-based inspection and refurbishment keep the silo working for decades rather than being replaced before its time.
