Bespoke Water Tanks

Industrial water storage rarely fits into a neat, standard footprint. Plant rooms are tight, basements are awkward, capacity requirements are specific to the system being supplied, and existing infrastructure has to be worked around rather than ignored. A bespoke water tank gives you the storage capacity your project needs in the physical envelope you actually have to work with. Franklin Hodge builds bespoke tanks from sectional panels, so the tank fits your site, not the other way round.

Can Franklin Hodge Make a Tank in Any Shape?

Yes, Franklin Hodge’s Firetainer® tank can be made to fit your space. The Firetainer® is our rectangular sectional fire protection tank, built on-site from individual panels rather than delivered as a pre-formed vessel, which means the dimensions can be configured to fit the footprint your project actually has available.

For installations where standard tanks won’t fit, that adaptability is what turns a problem into a buildable solution.

Bespoke Water Tank Construction: The Firetainer® Approach

The Firetainer® is purpose-built around the sectional construction principle. Each panel is manufactured at our UK facility and shipped as a kit to site, where the tank is assembled in position. Because the tank is built where it stands rather than delivered finished, the footprint is set by your site, not by what fits on a lorry.

For fire protection tanks, the Firetainer® can be built up to 5.35m high and configured into rectangular footprints that suit basements, plant rooms, and other restricted-access locations. It also holds LPCB approval, so the bespoke nature of the tank doesn’t compromise the certification status required for fire sprinkler installations.

Bespoke Sizing Across the Franklin Hodge Water Tank Range

While the Firetainer® is the most flexible product for awkward footprints, all four of our sectional tank ranges support some level of bespoke specification.

Liquistore® and Firestore® cylindrical tanks are configured to specific diameters, heights, and capacities to match your application. Liquitainer® rectangular tanks bring the same space-flexibility as the Firetainer® to general liquid storage applications. And the Glass Coated Liquistore®, used for waste and effluent storage, is specified to project-specific capacities for industrial, agricultural, and municipal applications.

The full sectional range covers capacities from 10m³ to 5,000m³, so the right combination of shape, capacity, and material is available regardless of project scale.

Where Bespoke Water Tanks Make the Difference

Bespoke specification is what makes a tank work when:

  • Plant room or basement footprints rule out a standard cylindrical vessel
  • Access for installation is restricted by doorways, corridors, or low ceilings
  • Capacity requirements sit between standard sizing brackets
  • The tank has to integrate with existing pipework, supports, or building structure

Each of these scenarios is one Franklin Hodge has handled across over five decades of UK manufacturing, and the bespoke nature of our sectional construction is what makes those solutions practical rather than theoretical.

Sizing a Custom Water Tank Before You Specify

For new projects, the right capacity can be modelled in advance using our tank capacity calculator, which confirms volume requirements before getting into the detail of bespoke dimensions. Spec sheets and product details across the range are also available in our downloads section to support the specification stage.

Talk to Franklin Hodge About Your Bespoke Water Tank

Bespoke tank projects benefit from an early conversation. The earlier we understand the site constraints, capacity targets, and integration requirements, the more we can build into the design rather than work around after the fact. Request a quote with your project details and we’ll send the relevant information through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Franklin Hodge build a bespoke water tank to fit my site?

Yes, our sectional tanks including the Firetainer® can be configured to fit specific footprints, capacities, and site constraints.

Which Franklin Hodge tank is most flexible for restricted spaces?

The Firetainer® is the most adaptable for awkward or restricted footprints, with site-assembled rectangular dimensions configured to suit.

Are bespoke fire protection tanks LPCB-approved?

Yes, the Firetainer® retains LPCB approval across its bespoke configurations, so certification status isn’t compromised by custom sizing.

Can bespoke tanks be built for very large capacities?

Yes, our sectional tanks scale from 10m³ to 5,000m³, with bespoke options available across the full capacity range.

How early should bespoke requirements be raised?

As early as possible. The specification stage is when site constraints and capacity targets are best built into the design.
