Aluminium Water Tanks

When your site sits in a coastal, marine, or tropical environment, galvanised steel isn’t always the right fit. Franklin Hodge manufactures aluminium water tanks from a shipbuilding grade of aluminium, selected for its corrosion resistance in conditions that would otherwise shorten the working life of a standard steel tank. The result is a site-assembled aluminium water tank engineered to perform wherever your project is based.

Can Franklin Hodge Offer Aluminium Tanks?

Yes, we offer aluminium water tanks made from a shipbuilding grade of aluminium for optimal corrosion resistance. The material is specifically selected to perform in environments where salt air, humidity, or aggressive atmospheric conditions would accelerate wear on standard galvanised steel.

Aluminium sits alongside galvanised steel as one of the two core materials in our cylindrical water storage tanks range. Steel is the sensible default for inland, temperate UK sites. Aluminium is what you specify when site conditions demand something more resilient.

Where Aluminium Water Tanks Are Typically Used

Our aluminium tanks are most commonly specified for:

  • Coastal and marine sites with ongoing salt exposure
  • Tropical and high-humidity environments
  • Industrial sites with corrosive atmospheric conditions
  • International projects shipped flat-pack for on-site assembly

Because our tanks are sectional and built in position from panels, aluminium tanks can be installed in the same range of locations as our steel variants, including sites with restricted access.

Our Aluminium Tank Range

Two cylindrical tank ranges are available in aluminium construction.

Liquistore® is our cylindrical liquid storage tank, used for drinking water, process water, and general liquid storage applications. The aluminium Liquistore is the right specification where long-term corrosion resistance matters more than up-front cost.

Firestore® is our cylindrical fire protection tank, built to the certification standards required for sprinkler and firefighting systems. In aluminium, it brings the same LPCB-approved performance to sites where standard steel wouldn’t stand up to the environment.

Both are site-assembled from sectional panels and available across a wide capacity range, with structural designs that can be adapted for high wind loading where required.

Aluminium or Galvanised Steel?

The choice comes down to site conditions. Galvanised steel is cost-effective and performs well across most UK inland locations. Aluminium costs more up front, but in coastal, marine, or tropical settings it delivers a longer operational life and lower whole-life cost. If you’re specifying for a challenging environment, aluminium is almost always the better long-term investment.

Speak to Franklin Hodge About Aluminium Water Tanks

If your project is exposed to salt air, high humidity, or aggressive atmospheric conditions, standard galvanised steel may not offer the long-term durability required, often leading to higher costs over time. Franklin Hodge has over 50 years of experience as a UK aluminium tank manufacturer, and our engineering team can match the right material, capacity, and configuration to your site. Request a quote and we’ll come back to you with specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grade of aluminium is used in Franklin Hodge tanks?

We use a shipbuilding grade of aluminium, chosen specifically for corrosion resistance in marine and coastal environments.

Are aluminium water tanks available for fire protection?

Yes, our LPCB-approved Firestore® cylindrical tank is available in aluminium for fire sprinkler and firefighting systems.

Where are aluminium tanks most suitable?

Coastal, marine, tropical, and corrosive industrial sites where galvanised steel would face accelerated deterioration over time.

Are aluminium tanks site-assembled?

Yes, all our aluminium tanks are sectional and built in position from panels, even on sites with restricted access.

What capacity range is available for aluminium water tanks?

Our aluminium tanks are available from 10m³ up to 5,000m³, covering both compact and large-scale installations.
